A Moving Celebration of Philip Glass

Inspired by legendary composer Philip Glass’ 85th birthday party at The Rink at Rockefeller Center, GlassSkates puts a West Coast twist on the marriage of music and movement. Moving away from the ice rink and to the warmer climes of the roller rink, GlassSkates offers an afternoon of roller skating to the music of Philip Glass and the popular, electronic, and alternative R&B artists he has inspired. Even we are strapping on our skates to join the festivities!

The event celebrates the composer and his wide-reaching influence in advance of the March 19 Green Umbrella program, featuring performances of The Complete Etudes by a renowned line-up of musicians, including Timo Andres, Anton Batagov, Lara Downes, Jenny Lin, and Maki Namekawa, and the recent release of Philip Glass Piano Etudes: The Complete Folios 1-20 & Essays from 20 Fellow Artists.
