SHANKS
A Hollywood Entertainment Screening
January 11
Doors 7:30 PM / Show 8 PM
Experience THE puppet terror classic like never before as Hollywood Entertainment presents Cinématographe’s new 4K restoration of William Castle’s Shanks — a Los Angeles Premiere!
Join us for a macabre evening featuring mime from LA’s own Giraffe Sisters, puppeteering from the Bob Baker Marionette Theater, and more as we screen the 1974 “grim fairy tale” of murder, malice, and evil puppetry starring the great Marcel Marceau in his only starring/speaking role as two distinct (and distinctly chilling) parts. Marceau’s eerie and compelling performances are driven by Alex North’s haunting (and Academy Award™️ nominated) score.
This “deliciously grotesque” special event will also feature a one-time-only display of the original puppets created for the film by Bob Baker for your souvenir photo and revenge planning needs.
Please note, this event is recommended for adult audiences only.
About the Series
Hollywood Entertainment x Bob Baker Marionette Theater present a film programming residency. With each event inspired by the themes of classic and current Bob Baker Marionette shows (The circus! A day on the farm! A magical train ride!), take your imagination on a journey through rare and unavailable films and special events with filmmakers, guests, performers, and more.
About Hollywood Entertainment
Hollywood Entertainment was created to entertain and educate filmgoers by screening and preserving eclectic, underseen, non-commercial, rare, and socially beneficial films and film-related artifacts. The non-profit organization evolved out of Moviepassed, a near-daily stream of online movie watching that began in April 2020.
